Worms Reloaded: Keeps minimizing itself

I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s been anticipating this game. I’m also sure I’m not the only one who was excited to click the “Play” button in Steam, only to be greeted message saying the game had stopped working.

After I tried to start the game twice with the same result, I decided to make sure the download was completely intact. This is done by right click on your game in Steam and choosing “Properties”. Then you choose the “Local files” tab and click “Verify integrity of game cache…“. After I did this, Steam told me that it had downloaded 30 files.

I thought I was good to go now. But I wasn’t. My game would start now, but after the Team 17 logo the game would just minimize itself. Then if I clicked the icon and maximized the game I’d see the game screen for a split second and it would be minimized again.

After fiddling around with the game trying random things, I found out something that works (for me at least).

Go to the game’s folder. For me it’s located in “D:\games\Steam\steamapps\common\worms reloaded“. Right click on the game’s executable file “WormsReloaded.exe” and choose “Properties“. Choose the “Compatibility” tab and check the “Disable desktop composition“. Now click “OK” and start the game from Steam like you normally would.

Happy worming.

Thanks for sharing. This is a strange error in that it only affects a few users. Glad I’m now able to launch the game without having to click like mad to try and stop it from minimizing.

Worked great for me!. Thanks. Maybe it has something to do with my dual-monitor setup.
