Prince Of Persia – Sands Of Time (2003)

Running Windows 7, I’ve had a lot of trouble running this game properly. As far as I can tell from Googling it’s an issue with nVidia drivers. The following should help.

Blue screen
When first you install the game on Windows 7 you might have a problem where the game will start, but everything is blue and blurry.

  1. Find the directory where the game is installed (if you’re unsure, you can right click on the game’s shortcut, choose “properties” and check the “Start in:” field).
  2. Open the file called “hardware.ini“.
  3. Find the line that says “ForceVSFog” and change its value to 1.
  4. Find the line that says “InvertFogRange” and change it to 0.
  5. Save and close the file. You should now be able to run the game.

The game runs too fast
It seems the game may run too fast on computers where the CPU has more than 1 core.
Unfortunately you will need to take these steps every time you want to play. This is not a permanent fix.

  1. Start the game.
  2. Press Alt+Tab.
  3. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc.
  4. Choose the tab called “Processes“.
  5. Click on “Show processes for all users“. If it asks you to confirm the action, do so.
  6. Find the process called “POP.EXE” and right click on it.
  7. Choose “Set affinity…“.
  8. Make sure only “CPU 0” is checked.
  9. Open the game up again by choosing it with Alt+Tab.
